Sausage rolls, a South African favorite. It is a sausage, rolled up in buttery, flakey pastry and baked. One problem with this fast food favorite is that you cant buy the in America. So mom found a way to make her own. Its really simple, so follow my vague instructions and you are well on your way to a heart attack. You will need breakfast sausage, good old bob evens, flakey, puffy pastry stuff and some eggs. Now, you will want to thaw out the pastry, and remember, one sausage will feed about two people, so if you have 8 people you will need about 4 sausages. Remember, 1/2 = 36/72. you might want to get low fat sausage because if you dot it will have a layer of fat around it that seems like a cheese sauce. GROSS! lay out your pastry, roll out the sausage so it is a little longer than the pastry, and roll that hot shot up like a pig in a blanket. Beat up some egg and brush it on the top. Pop those in the oven on about 350 for about 40 minutes until golden brown. Check to make sure there is no pink in the middle. Take it out and enjoy the heart attack! P.S. the finished picture is stolen off the internet! Looking at it is a crime, so just ignore it, but we ate them too fast to take pictures once they came out the oven. And, this is what got me through 7 hours of riding.
